Kayderosseras Creek Ride

Route details

Follow the Kayderosseras Creek from Saratoga Lake to Source on Angel Road. The creek is the largest river that lies completely within Saratoga County. It originates in the Kayaderosseras Mountain range in the northern part of the county, and passes through the towns of Corinth, Greenfield, and Milton, the village of Ballston Spa , Town of Malta, and borders on the City of Saratoga Springs before emptying into Saratoga Lake. The name means, "the valley of the crooked stream." There were a dozen paper mills along the creek in the late 1800's and there was a 12 mile electric trolley railroad serving the area from 1898 to 1929.

Lake Desolation Hill Climb

Route details

A hilly ride with a 4 mile long climb that gets very steep in a couple of spots. This is a local favorite for hill climbs. Stop at Tinney's at the top for a burger or take a swim in Lake Desolation. This ride is not recommend for families or inexperienced riders. Use extra caution on the descent! We've put together a scenic, low-traffic route, as well as a shorter, higher traffic route.

Railroad Run

Route details

This half mile path illustrates the conversion of an abandoned railroad bed into an urban trail. Although it is well used by walkers, joggers, and cyclists, the trail has great symbolic significance. Railroad Run was created years ago by visionaries who imagined a trail crossing Saratoga County. It's taking time, but eventually the trail will continue through the property of the new YMCA, through the Spa State Park, and on to Ballston Spa to meet up with the Zim Smith Trail which passes through Malta toward Mechanicville.

Spa State Park Paths

Route details

Rather than a route, this is a map showing ridable roads and paths in the state park. All marked paths are paved, or stone dust. The park allows bikes anywhere except on the golf course, so a mountain bike will have miles of other "natural surface" trails to explore.

Tour de Cure Routes

The American Diabetes Association has laid out 6 local routes for the Tour de Cure. Their cue sheets cover rides from 10 to 100 miles.

Zim Smith Trail

Route details

This wide and well maintained Saratoga Country off-road trail has a mix of paved and crushed stone dust segments. It is well used by walkers, joggers, rollerbladers, and cyclists. Parts are used by horses and snowmobiles in the appropriate seasons.

The trail touches parts of Ballston Spa, the Town of Malta, and Round Lake as it heads toward Mechanicville.

It was named after a local activist, Zim Smith, and is maintained by the county. The trail partially follows the county sewer line right of way.
