Getting Around Downtown Saratoga Springs
If you are biking to Broadway, consider approaching your destination from a side street and then walking your bike on the sidewalk (riding on the sidewalk is illegal and may result in a ticket).
We strongly encourage you to explore side streets for getting around town. There are, however, some relatively low traffic cross-town streets include:
East Side: Crescent Avenue, Union Avenue, Excelsior Avenue, Circular Street, and Nelson Avenue (Note: these are all busy streets during racing season – mid July through early September)
West Side: Railroad Run, Franklin Street, and Clinton Avenue

Getting Out of Saratoga Springs:
See our mapped routes for some suggested rides. We also recommend you just get out and explore the roads! Some of the safer routes out of the town follow.
Heading North:
Route 9 is a New York State bicycle route with wide shoulders (outside of the downtown area). It is a quick option out of town, though not so pleasant or scenic.
Excelsior Avenue to Veteran’s Way to Loughberry Road to Route 9 to Smith Bridge Road
Denton Road to Locust Grove Road
Denton Road to Bloomfield Road to Daniels Road to Braim Road (great hill climb!)
Heading South:
Route 9 (see above). Route 50 is also a New York State bicycle route for heading south, though again not so pleasant or scenic.
Denton Road to Locust Grove Road to 9N to Middle Grove to Stone Church Road (round-about scenic route, but Stone Church will take you to Ballston Spa)
Nelson Avenue to Crescent Avenue (County Rte 22 )to 9P (route around Saratoga Lake - narrow road)
Nelson Avenue to Nelson Avenue Extension to Rowley Road (County Rte 61)
Heading East:
Nelson Avenue to Crescent Avenue (County Route 22
Union Avenue to Meadowbrook Road to Stafford Bridge Rd (County Rte 68)
Heading West:
Denton Road to Locust Grove Road to Wilton Road
Denton Road to Route 9 to Hickock Road
